PARTIES AT THE POINT
The annual live music series Party at the Point kicked off last Friday at the Charleston Harbor Resort (20 Patriots Point Blvd. in Mt. Pleasant) with a live show from Georgia-based jam band Jupiter Coyote. Local faves The Blue Dogs are set to perform two strummy sets of originals and renditions this Fri. May 11 starting around 6 p.m. One of the standout gigs of the series is the SKWZBXX reunion show, set for Fri. May 25. The local, brass-driven ska/rock party band (pronounced "squeeze box") have pulled everyone back in: singer Rik Cribb (of The Problems, The Yachtsmen), drummer Jack Burg (currently of The Bedrooms, V-Tones), trombonist/singer Steve Spaulding (of Love Butter, Booty Call), trumpeter/vocalist Charlton Singleton (of Plane Jane), bassist Jonathan Holt (of Number One Contender), guitarist/vocalist Brad MacLean (of The Dellortos), and sax player David Cole. See www.myspace.com/skwzbxxsqueezebox and www.partyatthepointonline.com for more.
