PURE Theatre presents The Laramie Project: Epilogue Mon. Oct. 12, from 8 p.m.-midnight. The Laramie Project was originally written as a response to the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard in his town of Laramie, Wyoming. The epilogue, written by the play’s original author Moisés Kaufman of the Tectonic Theatre Project, returns to the town of Laramie and focuses on the long term effects of Shepard’s murder on the town and throughout the world. It also includes new interviews with Shepard’s mother Judy and murderer Aaron McKinney. The reading will be performed simultaneously in 120 theaters across the world to mark the 11th anniversary of Shepard’s brutal and shocking death. There will also be an online presence, with an interactive question and answer sessions following the performances, Twitter feeds, photo albums, and message boards at LaramieProject.org. The free reading will take place at Circular Congregational Church. Call (843) 723-4444 for more info.
