This week is National Bike to Work Week. Didn't know that? Local bicycle advocacy group Charleston Moves has set up a few events to get your wheels turning:

Wed. May 16, 6 p.m., Hampton Park: Ride of Silence. Police will escort bicyclists on a slow, silent ride around the peninsula in memory of those who have lost their lives while cycling. Post-ride beverages at Taco Boy on Huger Street.

Fri. May 18: Bike to Work Day. Piggly Wiggly is sponsoring six Breakfast Aid Stations to help fuel your morning commute. Stop at one of the following Pig Wig locations for a pick-me-up:

Mt. Pleasant: IOP Connector, 1981 Riviera Drive
Coleman Blvd/Ben Sawyer: 1220 Ben Sawyer Drive
West Ashley, Sam Rittenberg/North Bridge area: 14 Sumar St.
James Island: 1005 Harborview Road, 1985 Folly Road
Downtown: 445 Meeting Street
Charleston Moves will also host an aid station at the East Bay end of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge.

Fri. May 18, 6:30-10 p.m., Hippodrome, Liberty Square: Work to Bike Party. Live music by Satellite Rodeo. Silent auction. D'Allessandro's Pizza, New Belgium beer. The event is free to attend, but membership donations to Charleston Moves are encouraged.
