Rob & Harry Drabkin

When: Thu., June 17 2010

With his impressive technical proficiency, a percussive and soulful singing style, and a modified Pat Metheny haircut, Denver-based singer/guitarist Rob Drabkin is a pretty big deal out West. Drabkin began playing the electric guitar at age 11, shifting from hard rock to jazz during his high school years. After college, he dove into the Denver music scene as a solo act and as a bandleader, eventually landing as the supporting act on bills with the likes of The John Butler Trio, Tim Reynolds, Back Door Slam, and The Wood Brothers. He released his self-titled debut album in 2008. He and his sax-playing father, Harry, perform an intimate set on Calhoun Street on Thursday at 10 p.m. —T. Ballard Lesemann
