Rockin' on the Point w/ Crowfield

When: Fri., July 30 2010

The summertime concert series Rockin’ on the Point comes to a lively conclusion this weekend with a live set from acclaimed Charleston roots-rock band Crowfield, beautiful harbor scenery, and a slew of tropical drinks and ice-cold beer. The weekly series kicked off in April at the scenic Charleston Harbor Resort in Mt. Pleasant, located just south of Patriots Point and the U.S.S. Yorktown. Organizer Rob Lamble and his Ear for Music team added new amenities to the series over the last two years, creating an even more patron-friendly environment with the Sunset Deck area and the newly refurbished Lookout Pavilion. “We created the event to reach all demographics,” says Lamble. “Young professionals and families can bring their kids out there, and there’s plenty of beach area for them to enjoy. Also, it’s a great opportunity for someone to come out, unwind, and catch some great live music.” Formerly billed as Party at the Point (old-school locals still call it by this name), the Rockin’ on the Point lineups have featured a variety of rock, funk, reggae, and beach acts. Co-presented by Apex Broadcasting, this Friday’s finale marks the last gig of the 10th anniversary season. Led by singer, guitarist, and songwriter Tyler Mechem and pianist Joe Giant, Crowfield has stayed busy on the road this year behind their latest album Goodbye, Goodnight, So Long Midwestern. The Delta Saints open. The gates open at 5:30 p.m., and the music starts at 6 p.m. —T. Ballard Lesemann
