The acclaimed Awendaw Green studio facility and music venue hosts the second annual "Rocktoberfest" music festival on Oct. 9-12. The major goal at the festival is to raise money for the Charleston County Band Instrument Fund, which helps the students of local middle school and high school marching and concert band programs.
Just a quick walk up Hwy. 17 from the Seewee Outpost, the festival features dozens of local and visiting acts (and numerous volunteers) on three stages in the field behind Awendaw Green and the Outpost. Although organizers are still arranging the final band schedules, the band list already includes some of the local scene's finest acts including Larry Keel, Cary Ann Hearst, Cravin' Melon, Zach Deputy, Danielle Howle, Mark Bryan, The Whisperjets, Lindsay Holler, and many more.
Expect a handful of regional artists on the roster as well. Food and beverages will be available on all four days. Donations of band instruments are encouraged (and rewarded). Check out awendawgreen.com for more.
