The Ocean Course gets tamed

In a week of rain and nasty weather, Sunday at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island had only one storm. Twenty-two-year–old Rory McIlroy demolished the field as he cruised to become the youngest PGA Champion in history. His bogey-free round of 66 gave him a margin of victory larger than ever before at a PGA Championship. He matched his 2011 U.S. Open victory of an eight-stroke win.

Rory was the only one charging on Sunday. After efforts from contenders — Ian Poulter, Carl Pettersson, Tiger Woods — fell by the wayside, the competition was over when Poulter bogeyed holes 13, 14, and 15.

This was McIlroy's second Major victory and fourth PGA tour, and he took home $1,445,000 for his efforts. It wasn't a bad payday for the 22-year-old.

Rory McIlroy blows away the field with a record 8-shot victory at The Ocean Course.
