Saliva w/ Anchored, Leslie, Souls Harbor

When: Thu., May 6 2010

Touring heavily behind their new album Blood Stained Love Story, spiky-haired Memphis-based modern rock band Saliva returns to the Music Farm this week with a solid bill of local support. Over the past couple years, lead singer Josie Scott, guitarists Wayne Swinny and Jon Montoya, bassist Dave Novotny, and drummer Paul Crosby “carried a certain level of passion” through a variety of rough life experiences (break-ups, soberin’ up sessions, etc.). “I think we’ve all been through a blood stained love story of one type or another,” says Scott. “It’s a metaphor for how things can be a certain way for so long, and then within a day, they just change and you’re on this whole other path.” Much of Blood Stained Love Story is heavier and less stylized than Saliva’s previous, more polished material. Dallas-based rock band Anchored is on the road with Saliva in support of a disc titled Listen to This, and local power trio Leslie and local alt-rock quintet Souls Harbor hold the opening slots. —T.
