Charleston salsa/Cuban-jazz band Tumbao — led by award-winning composer and musician Fernando Rivas — performs at Eye Level Art on Sun. Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. The seven-piece ensemble includes former members of Havanason and features New York percussionist Gino Castillo and local trumpet great Charlton Singleton.

"It's a delightful blend of old-school salsa and contemporary Latin jazz, perfect for dancing or listening," says Rivas, who'll be warmed up from performing with the Charleston Jazz Orchestra the night before during the JAC's Latin Night event at the Charleston Music Hall.

Tumbao made a splash in town this year with performances at McCrady's during the Piccolo Spoleto's Blues & Jazz series, at Voodoo Tiki Bar & Lounge, and at Cinco de Mayo events downtown.
