Satin Dolls String Quartet

When: Wed., June 2, 7 p.m., Thu., June 3, 3 p.m. and Fri., June 4, 7 p.m. 2010

OK, so maybe Spoleto season isn’t the best time to debut your string quartet. But never mind. The Satin Dolls are definitely worth checking out. They’ll perform one of their very first shows at Bethel Methodist Church June 2-4. The electric sounds of the quartet are formed by talented female musicians, including Kennedy on the violin and piano, Jadde Nolty on violin, Anjali Lind on viola, and Annelise Nelson on the cello. The artists blend their musical knowledge in jazz, theatrical, modern, orchestra, and Celtic music together to give the audience a new kind of melodious experience perfect for a summertime rendezvous. As the Satin Dolls perform the works of Brahms, Morricone, Ravel, and Satie, they’ll wear the exclusive designs of Mary Porter House of Couture, uniting a classic Southern style with Paris couture. It’ll be a treat for your eyes and your ears. —Lindsay Paris
