Save Our Seas

When: Sat., July 17, 7-11 p.m. 2010

The S.C. Aquarium will host Save Our Seas on Saturday, “an evening to benefit South Carolina Aquarium’s efforts here and in the Gulf,” says Beth Nathan (of the Aquarium). While helping the Gulf, you can enjoy a night of entertainment and education with live music, Cajun food, celebrities, and personal accounts from Aquarium staff members. Biologist Shelley Dearhart will speak about her recent travels to the Gulf Coast, where she helped with dolphin surveying. There will also be live performances from Red Top Ramblers, Henry’s Attic, Doug Jones and Gary Greene from Cravin’ Melon, and a special appearance from Mark Bryan of Hootie and the Blowfish. Cool down with a cold beer (or soda) and enjoy some Cajun cuisine from Krewe of Charleston. “It will be a really great time and a fun way to raise money and awareness on such an important cause,” says Nathan. Tickets are $30, and proceeds will go to the Aquarium’s wildlife care, conservation, and rescue programs. Also, a percentage of the proceeds will be sent directly to the Audubon Nature Institute in the Gulf to support sea turtle recovery efforts. —Lindsay Paris
