The third annual South Carolina Music Awards show goes down on Sat. July 9, and the organizers have several parties planned as well.

Sponsored by local station 92.5 The Box, a pre-show "meet-and-greet" and hip-hop showcase hosted by Street Poet and DJ Goldie is set for Fri. July 9 at 8 p.m. at the Kush Lounge in Ladson. On Sat.

July 10, the main event kicks off at 3 p.m. at the Memminger Auditorium with a slew of regional acts, emcees, DJs, and movers and shakers. The hip-hop-heavy showcase will be hosted by DJ Chuck T and Randy Roper. Artists will be honored in the categories of Pop/Rock, Rap/Hip Hop, Soul/R&B, and Gospel. DJ Lord Jazz will provide music and video throughout the show. Models from Pretty Girlz Productions will strut their stuff. Tickets for the awards show are available at Monster Music & Movies in West Ashley and at Loco Records in North Charleston.

Niche Carolina magazine hosts an after-party at Wing Time at 9 p.m. with music from DJ B-Lord, Kenny Kane, and Carlos Cartel. A naughtier, late-night, BYOB "after-after party" is planned for Club Fantasy (7240 Peppermill Pkwy.) on Saturday.

Kush Lounge hosts the grand finale on Sun. July 11 with the Community Block Fest car and bike show at 4 p.m. — a free event with vendors, presenters, kids events, and live music from Venom & The Vixens and DJ Goldie.
