Sea & Sand Festival

When: Sat., April 11, 7:30 a.m. 2015

Alright, we endured bipolar March weather long enough. As April emerges, warmer, sunnier days are on the horizon — or so we hope — and we will finally be able to enjoy all of the things we love about our little coastal paradise. This weekend will mark the 25th year of Folly Beach’s Sea & Sand Festival. The festival kicks off on Friday evening with the Miss Sea & Sand Pageant held at Folly River Park. On Saturday morning, you can run, walk or skate in a 5K on Coffin Island for a $30 registration fee. No matter your mode of transportation, you are encouraged to get decked out in your best pirate-wear for the sandy celebration. Center Street will be closed down all day Saturday to make room for vendors, music, and festival-goers. Some art vendors this year include: A Touch of the Coast, Southern Bling, Beach Woodworks, CaroLuna Candleworks and much more. Some of the many food vendors include BLU, Taco Boy, Planet Follywood, Crab Shack, and more. Enjoy some tunes from Dangermuffin, Cary Hudson, and a variety of other beach-friendly musicians. The festival will also have jump castles, carnival games, face painting, and more to entertain the kiddos. “You can enjoy your cold beverage, walk your dog, and listen to music,” says Angela Lentz, part of Follywood Productions. “It’s the beginning of a new beach year.”
