When: Sat., May 29, 12-12:30 p.m. 2010
Atlanta's community band holds a parade as part of Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
It came from Atlanta
The Seed & Feed is a marching band, one that prides itself on spreading laughter and joy, not necessarily hitting all the right notes. Band members romp alongside dancers and baton twirlers, decked out in colorful costumes and grooving to high-energy music. Expect infectious smiling and laughing if you happen upon one of their three performances opening weekend.
Wildest community band ever
The only requirement to be a Seed & Feed member is an abundant willingness to have fun. The ragtag group is a volunteer community, made up of musicians, dancers, and performers, previous marching experience not required.
The Seed & Feed started in the '70s and has been going strong ever since. When they come to town, they go all out with a parade through Marion Square at the Children's Festival, a midnight pajama party in the Market, and a patriotic Memorial Day concert. This is the 20th Piccolo Spoleto appearance for the Seed & Feed, so be sure to wish them a happy anniversary.
