Siempre Mujer Music Festival

When: Sat., June 16, 9:30 a.m. 2012

Siempre Mujer is no stranger to breaking boundaries. Launched as the first Spanish-language lifestyle publication for Hispanic women living in the United States back in September 2005, the magazine is now bi-monthly and has an audience of more than 3.5 million. And now they’re hosting the first-ever Siempre Mujer Music Festival — right here in Charleston. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for the free daytime festival, which will give attendees the opportunity to interact with Gilberto Santa Rosa and Xavier Serbiá from CNN Dinero and astrologer Carlos Javier Aranzales. During the evening, attendees may purchase tickets for a concert headlined by Grammy Award-winning artists Los Tigres del Norte, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Chino y Nacho. For some, it may be a bit of a surprise that the Lowcountry was selected as the host for the festival. But according to festival representative Citlalic Peralta, “Charleston attracts a lot of tourists and we are seeing a significant growth in the Hispanic community in and around the city.” Peralta adds, “We are a magazine trying to get our name out there, and what’s a better way to do that than by interacting with our readers?”
