Spoleto 2007

comment

Spoleto 2007 stomps through Charleston like Godzilla on a rampage, and we’re all lucky to still be standing as the second weekend of the festival gets underway. A host of shows premiere this weekend, with Scheer and McBrayer and Shen Wei Dance Arts topping our whatever-you-do-don’t-miss-these-shows lists. Another free dance party takes over the Custom House grounds, and our writers swarm the streets, taking in as many performances, parties, and previews as they can muster up the energy
to attend.
If you haven’t been checking out our blogs (at ccpblogs.com), WTF?! We’re updating those babies continuously throughout the festival with reviews, random musings, podcasts, videos, and more. Spoletobuzz.com is the best place to go for the latest news regarding the festival, from ticket snafus to sold-out houses.

Here’s what we highly recommend this week:
Scheer and McBrayer; Mary Kay Has a Posse; Upright Citizens Brigade Tour Company; The Cody Rivers Show; P.S. 69; Major Bang: or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Dirty Bomb; The Full Monty; medEia; The Dangerous Strangers of Cabaret Kiki present the Rogues’ Gallery; Fascinating Rhythm: A Musical Tribute to George and Ira Gershwin; Shen Wei Dance Arts; Sister City Jazz Block Party: A Tale of Two Cities; Renato Braz; Ahmad Jamal; the New Music Collective: Katrina Ballads; Verdi: Messa da Requiem; and both Spoleto Festival concerts.

Try the Farmers Market, Little Red Riding Hood, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Puppet Follies, Piccolo Spoleto Goes to the Beach, Quite a Catch! Juggling Show, Tangle of Tales, Sister City Jazz Block Party: A Tale of Two Cities.
