Stand Up Get Down Comedy Dance Party

When: Thu., Sept. 2, 8 p.m. 2010

Part stand-up comedy show, part DJ-fueled dance party, the monthly Stand Up/Get Down show merges two distinct forms of entertainment into one night of excitement. The intimate show brings the comedians right onto the dance floor at Club Light, setting it apart from any comedy venue in town. The Back to School Special will feature some of Charleston’s funniest comics: Dusty Slay, Mark Szlachetka, Ben Kennedy, David Corley, and recently roasted Jason Groce. All will have an eight- to 10-minute set. Following the comedy acts, Club Light will return to its more natural form as it lights up the dance floor with DJ Cilo spinning the tunes. Unfortunately, you’ve got to be 21 or older to get in the door. But since it’s the Back to School Special, the first 15 folks who show their college ID get in free. Ringleader David “Apples” Appleton says, “MUSC, CofC, I don’t care. If Grandma has her 1967 USC ID, if she brings it and is one of the first 15, she gets in free.” —Dustin J. Pitts
