The Sophia Institute hosts local literary phemons Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor on Thurs. Oct. 15. The mother-daughter duo will read sections from their new book Traveling with Pomegranates and reflect on the travels that inspired it.
St. Stephen’s Church on Anson Street is the venue for the intimate event, which will also include a question and answer session, a book signing, and a reception following the reading at the Phoebe Pembroke House.
Kidd is known for her bestselling novels The Secret Life of Bees and The Mermaid Chair, while first-time author Taylor often writes for Skirt! magazine here in Charleston. The pair penned this novel on their round-the-world journey and it presents their travels from dual perspectives at turning points in each of their lives.
The reading starts at 6:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public, but donations are accepted. Seating is limited, so pre-register by calling (843) 720-8528.
