Our summer wardrobe consists mainly of tank tops and jorts — that’s jean shorts for those not in the know — to beat the heat. So we generally need some motivation to class it up. Thankfully, Charleston Symphony Orchestra(CSO) is here to entice us out of our sloppy style with their last summer concert of the chamber music series. CSO concertmaster and director Yuriy Bekker will play the violin, Damian Kremer will be on the cello, Alexander Agrest will play the viola, and special guest violinist Solomiya Ivakhiv will return to Charleston for the performance. “It will feature some of the most gorgeous repertoire for string quartets,” says Tara Scott, CSO director of marketing. Those pieces include Barber’s String Quartet (including the famous Adagio for Strings) and Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in D Major. And the setting of the Dock Street Theatre only adds to the classiness of the evening. We guess something does come between us and our jorts: classical music and a fancy night out.
