Summer dining deals heat up

Oak and Muse throw down the gauntlet. Who's next?

The July deals are getting hot as restaurateurs combat the inevitable summertime slowdown. Over at Muse on Society Street, they're offering the Twilight Dining special, which allows participating diners their choice of soup or salad followed by one of three entrees (meat, seafood, or pasta) and a glass of house wine. All this comes to just $22 Sun.-Thurs. through September. Whether you want to sidle up to the bar, or take a seat at one of their tables indoors or on the terrace, this is one deal you won't want to miss.

Over at Oak Steakhouse on Broad Street, Chef Brett McKee has crafted a menu to appeal to families and other budget-conscious diners. The "Smaller Portions, Smaller Prices" menu has hearty classics lasagna, chicken parmesan, spaghetti Bolognese, petit filet mignon, parmigiano-encrusted pork chop, and buttermilk fried chicken for $15-$16. Select entrees come with two sides like whipped potatoes, creamed spinach, butter beans, and white corn. The smaller menu is available Mon.-Thurs. from 5-7 p.m.
