When: Sat., May 26, 5 p.m. 2012
The eighth annual Share Our Suzy concert — a benefit organized as part of the Suzy McGrane Memorial, which originally began as a fundraiser for McGrane but has since evolved into an annual event — is set for Saturday at the Lighthouse on the Creek (next to Red’s Ice House in Mt. Pleasant). Five Way Friday and Gaslight Street will perform on the main stage. Based in Columbia and Greenville, Five Way Friday specializes in melodic guitar-pop. Led by singer/guitarist/organist Campbell Brown, local ensemble Gaslight Street has a rootsy/soulful style. The concert is co-sponsored by Shoreline Productions, Eskimo Advertising, O’Brion’s Pub, Roper St. Francis, and the law firm of Richardson, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman. Proceeds will benefit breast cancer patients “from diagnosis to remission” in South Carolina. “It’s a completely volunteer-driven organization,” says SOS board member Barbra Dreesen. “The money goes directly to fund patient needs.” Admission includes cocktails and a spread from Home Team BBQ. The event runs from 5-10 p.m.
