With a newly released studio album earning rave reviews, the heavy-hitting, San Diego-based alternative rock quintet Switchfoot has some mighty momentum behind them this season. Lead singer/guitarist Jon Foreman, bassist Tim Foreman, drummer Chad Butler, keyboardist/guitarist Jerome Fontamillas, and rhythm guitarist Drew Shirley recorded Vice Verses in their home studio with guidance from producers Neal Avron (Sara Bareilles, Weezer) and Mike Elizondo (Eminem, Dr. Dre, Pink). As a polished modern-rock collection, the production is spot-on and meticulous. Vice Verses follows last year’s Hello Hurricane, which contained the hits “The Sound (John M. Perkins’ Blues)” and “Mess of Me.” The band adds a bit of hard funk and rap into their rock on their latest single, “Selling the News.” Northern Virginia alt-rock band Honor By August opens the show at 8 p.m.
