When: Nov. 7-28 2014
The Plein Air Painters of America, or PAPA as they lovingly refer to themselves, are an organization of 40 artists dedicated to painting on location. While they normally hold workshops across the U.S., for The Color of Light exhibit, 12 PAPA members will present works at Helena Fox Fine Art that reflect the region and genre in which they paint. Artists from as far away as California will be on display, including John Cosby, Gil Dellinger, Donald Demers, Kathleen Dunphy, West Fraser, Joseph McGurl, Ray Roberts, Ned Mueller, Billyo O’Donnell, Lorenzo Chavez, Gay Faulkenberry, Matt Smith, and Brian Stewart. Some scenes will be familiar, like Fraser’s depiction of the “St. Johns River” painting or O’Donnell’s oil on linen take on Church Street, while others give a glimpse into farther afield scenes such as Cosby’s metropolitan streetscapes.
