The Corduroy Road

When: Fri., May 21 2010

Fans of Athens, Ga.-based Americana/bluegrass band Corduroy Road may want to mark their calendars. The twangy quartet — led by string players and vocalists Drew Carman and Dylan Solise — are calling it quits this month and scattering to start new projects. According to music writer Gordon Lamb, from the band’s hometown weekly Flagpole Magazine, their final Athens show is June 7. “A new band has formed named Moses Gunn (yes, like the actor), with ex-Corduroy Road members Elijah NeeSmith, Cameron Thomas, and John Cable,” says Lamb. “Eminently charming Thayer Sarrano is also in the band and will play keys as well as sing.” The band’s last-ever show will take place on Fri. July 2 in Cashiers, N.C. Local fans can catch Corduroy Road at both locations of Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ this weekend. They pick, strum, and harmonize in West Ashley on Friday and on Sullivan’s Island on Saturday. —T. Ballard Lesemann
