Tired of ordinary, mundane materials like cotton, silk, denim, and polyester that flood the fashion market today? Looking for a big shot of originality to spruce up your style? Well that’s the type of clothing the Art Institute’s Fashion Club has been working on for months while preparing for the Fashion Installation. These budding designers and their models will be showing works made from paper, plastic, wood, and more. “We are installing the new generation of America’s top fashion designers, retail buyers, stylists, and even costume designers,” says Demetrius Washington, Fashion Club president. “Using this show as our debut into the industry, we plan to show them all we have to offer and more.” The exhibit consists mostly of dresses, but the designers have revamped the typical cocktail dress with futuristic and new-wave innovations. The winning designer will receive a trophy, a $100 gift-card, and many other opportunities that will be announced at the show. There will be a cash-only silent auction featuring mostly jewelry, artwork, and clothing accessories like scarves. The exhibition is a major fundraiser for the Fashion Club, and any profit made will go toward future events. “Even if fashion isn’t your thing, come out and network, and enjoy our DJ and catering by Hyman’s Seafood and Tabbuli Grill,” says Washington.
