The Great Cancer Benefit: A Dance Concert

When: Sat., July 27, 8 p.m. 2013

National Dance Day is coming up at the end of this month and what better way to celebrate than dancing for a good cause? And that’s what Dancefx is going to do as they celebrate their fifth annual cancer benefit dance concert. This year the benefit will be Great Gatsby themed. Dancefx studios and other crews will dance the night away to hip-hop and jazz music from The Great Gatsby movie soundtrack as well as other music. Executive director of Dancefx Jenny Broe started the benefit five years ago in honor of her mother, who had recently passed away from cancer. “I think it’s important to have fun to raise money and awareness of such sad things,” Broe says. The Great Cancer Benefit will benefit Courageous Kidz, a charity that raises money for children with cancer. The audience can expect to see and participate in all types of dancing from tap and jazz to modern and swing. If you’re more of a spectating kind, you can participate in a silent auction sponsored by local businesses that will be held during the concert. The Dancefx crew encourages everyone to come dressed to impress in full Gatsby attire.
