When: Thu., April 17, 7 p.m. 2014
Brooklyn Community Arts and Media High School opened in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Here one-third of residents live in poverty and the high school graduation rate is 40 percent. The new school has an unconventional approach and ambitious mission: Use an arts-oriented curriculum that emphasizes self-development, community collaboration, and social change. The story of BCAMHS explores issues of class, race, and culture in the battlefield of education. There will be a Q&A with the filmmaker and a reception by Brown's Court Bakery.
