The Odd Couple Female Version

When: Sat., May 1 2010

The late actor Jack Lemmon was famous for wearing drag in Some Like It Hot. He’s also well-known for playing Felix in 1968’s The Odd Couple. Is it possible that he was the inspiration for the Flowertown Players’ upcoming take on the Neil Simon comedy? The troupe will perform the play with both a male and a female cast. The male version opens Fri. April 30, while the female version opens the next day; the performances will continue to alternate until May 15. The men will do the play like you already know it. For the female show, it’s the same plot but with a few modifications. Instead of Oscar and Felix, you’ll get Olive and Florence, who are eager to attract the attention of the Costazuela brothers upstairs. And they prefer Trivial Pursuit to poker. Pick your favorite gender or see them both. —Susan Cohen
