Getting invited to a wedding is exciting. You get to wear your season’s best, chow down, booze up, drop it like it’s hot, and celebrate love. The NotWedding is giving Charlestonians the chance to do all of that, except the “love” part won’t be real. NotWedding has been throwing phony weddings across the country since 2008 with the idea of giving brides and grooms-to-be a chance to experience firsthand what a real wedding hosted by participating vendors would be like. Guests get to experience the vendors in action with a full fake wedding — including reception — from décor to music, cake to floral arrangements “The NotWedding allows brides-to-be to get a feel for how wedding vendors would actually perform on their wedding day, and wedding vendors love being able to truly show off what they would do and how they work under the normal pressures of a wedding day,” says Callie Murray, CEO of The NotWedding. A wedding where you still get to eat, dance, and drink without the pressure of gift-giving and mingling with the bride’s weird uncle sounds like the best kinda wedding to us.
