I Got Music: CD release Party #2
Wed. Sept. 2
The Pour House

A friendly crowd of local musicians and supporters gathered at the Pour House on Wednesday evening (Sept. 2) for the second of two CD release parties hosted by the newly-opened Charleston Sound Studio and radio station The Bridge at 105.5. The gigs celebrated the new 11-song compilation disc I Got Music Five original local bands from the album— Dangermuffin, Milhouse, Firework Show, Jamie Resch & Kentucky Shoes, and Ryan Bailey — shared the bill.

We missed Dangermuffin's "AcousticMuffin" set on the deck and Milhouse's show early in the evening, but we caught the end of Firework Show's peppery rock set and all of Kentucky Shoes and Ryan Bailey's performances. Textured with reverby guitar, mandolin, cello, occasional banjo, and extra harmonies from backing singer Caitlin Cahill, lead singer and acoustic guitarist Jamie Resch led the Shoes through a lovely set of slow-rolling originals and covers. Singer/guitarist Ryan Bailey fronted a solid set of melodic twang-pop and Americana (in the vein of Whiskeytown, Son Volt, and Tom Petty) to close the night.

See charlestonsound.com and charlestonpourhouse.com for more info on the compilation and bands.
