Please tell us you’ve seen the Moto X “Lazy Phone” commercials. You know the one, where a guy is macking it with his lady friend and the lazy smartphone, played by T.J. Miller, can’t play the romantic music the owner wants. Well the Motorola ad-man and comedian will be performing stand-up at the Sottile Theatre with fellow comedians Thomas Middleditch and Nick Vatterott. And besides appearing in phone ads, Miller’s had a busy couple of years, starring in the new HBO series Silicon Valley (along with Middleditch), Cloverfield, She’s Out of My League, and as the voice of Tuffnut in the How to Train Your Dragon movies. He was also a regular guest of Chelsea Lately’s round table. Like Miller, Middleditch has appeared in a variety of films such as The Wolf on Wall Street and The Campaign, and starred in the 2009 rom-com, Splinterheads. Special guest and stand-up comedian Nick Vatterott is a Comedy Central veteran and will perform as well. “We are excited to host both T.J. Miller and Thomas Middleditch,” says Susan Payment, director of student life. “We noticed the popularity of Silicon Valley with our students. It is getting a good buzz here on campus.” Although the comedy show is geared toward students, the event is open to the public as well. Purchase your ticket for the show at the College of Charleston during normal business hours and keep in mind that only cash or checks will be accepted.
