Look, we know there’s only one reason — and one reason alone — why most folks would buy a ticket to see Tone Loc in concert, and, well, that’s to hear Loc’s two Yo MTV Raps-era classics, “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina.” Truth be told, since Tone Loc released 1988’s chart-topping Loc’d After Dark, the man born Anthony Terrell Smith really hasn’t done much else. There was a follow-up and some voice work, but that’s really been it. Sorry. We’re not haters. Loc hasn’t been the most prodigious artist. Still, a few tracks on Loc’d After Dark still hold up today, like the sweet leaf anthem “Cheeba Cheeba” and “Loc’in on the Shaw,” an instrumental track from the legendary Dust Brothers (producers of Beck’s Odelay and the Beastie’s Paul Boutique.
