Tuesday Honky-Tonk Night w/ Mac Leaphart

When: Tue., Oct. 12 2010

Charleston favorite Mac Leaphart and his latest band, My Ragged Company, kick off a new series in the popular North Charleston spot. The bi-weekly Honky-Tonk Night combines a deal on all-you-can-eat oysters with Leaphart and his boys rollicking through “a whole lot of Waylon,” among other standards and originals. The Ragged Company includes some familiar characters, with Wilson Pippin on bass, Reid Stone on guitar and vocals, John Picard on drums, and Charlie Thompson on pedal steel. The band’s name is taken from the opening bars of the Stones’ classic “Dead Flowers.” While the band may look a little ragged (in keeping with their outlaw style), they sure don’t sound it, moving from rockers to heartbreakers and whiskey laments with the ease of your grandpa’s Prohibition-era honky-tonk heroes. —Jared Booth
