What is it? A locally-produced, musically diverse celebration of jazz, soul, and improvisational music.

Why see it? Organizer Leah Suárez of Jazz Artists of Charleston worked on a similar series last year at Tonik on King Street. This year, she's assembled some of the finest local talent to perform in an intimate atmosphere. The Barbour/Beck Duo kicks off the series on May 24. Featured acts include George Kenny, Ann Caldwell, Bobbie Storm, flutist David Heywood, Brazilian guitarist Duda Lucena (pictured), trumpeter Kevin Hackler, the Kopaja Trio, Suárez, the Mark Sterbank Jazz Group, Robert Lewis and Fearless Jones, The Rudy Waltz, and the Tommy Gill Trio.

Who should go? Fans of improvisation, aggressive jazz, bebop, lounge, and Latin styles. (T. Ballard Lesemann)
