Vision of Labor

When: Fri., March 25, 7-10 p.m. 2016

The Southern, a gallery owned by husband and wife Erin and Justin Nathanson, hosts Vision of Labor an exhibit featuring new work by artist Benjamin Hollingsworth. Originally from the Lowcountry, Hollingsworth is described by the duo as an ephemeral artist and a traveler. Vision of Labor will incorporate a one of a kind and site-specific installation alongside wall-mounted tile paintings comprised of ceramic, concrete, brick, mirrors, plant-life, and more. This collection of mixed media pieces is intentionally puzzling. Hollingsworth describes his work by saying, “Not every work is meant for every viewer. It is okay if works are misunderstood, or takes on different meanings, or is thought of as not art. But, ultimately, if I think of it as art, it is art.”
