Wagener Terrace Oyster Roast w/ The BBQ Bros.

When: Sun., Oct. 31, 2-6 p.m. 2010

Most people in Charleston — as well as most people who visit Charleston — believe that South of Broad is the place to live. But I would have to disagree. Personally, I’m a fan of Wagener Terrace (and yes, I do happen to live there). Sure, our houses aren’t massive or hundreds of years old, but we’re tourist-free, within close proximity to the Ashley, and we’ve got Hampton Park. We even have our own oyster roast at Lowndes Grove Plantation. Local caterer Jamie Westendorff will provide the all-you-can-eat oysters, barbecue chicken, and more, and there will be beer and wine for sale. The BBQ Bros. (featuring Wagener Terrace resident Stanfield Gray) will play some tunes. For the kids, there’ll be cotton candy, a jump castle, and Halloween goodie bags for a jump start on trick-or-treating. Adults can participate in the silent auction. So if you don’t have the pleasure of living in the Terrace, stop by for an afternoon and enjoy what we do all year long — plus oysters. —Susan Cohen

Price: $16/advance, $20/door, $8-10/children
