The Phantom Film Society, Pulp Gallery’s very own (and not so secret) film group, presents Weeds, a 1987 prison comedy/drama/musical. If that sounds a little all over the place, it’s because it is. San Quentin inmate Lee Umsetter (Nick Nolte) writes a play as a way to pass the time while serving his life sentence, and after holding auditions he assembles a cast of inmates to perform the piece, a musical, no less. Like the flick’s trailer promises, this show will let you know what it “feels like from the inside.” Like all of the Phantom Film Society’s screenings, guests are encouraged to bring their own drinks and snacks.
