Weekend Round-Up: Chanukah, the Grinch, and something called a Cabooty

The best events in Charleston Dec. 6-8

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ... or Chanukah, depending on what you celebrate. Let's hope there's no scared giraffe at this Sunday's Chanukah in the Square. Better keep your kids close — just in case.

There are a bunch of great visual arts openings tonight, thanks to First Fridays on Broad.

Shake your cabooty at the Cabooty Holiday Party, which raises money for Camp Happy Days.

Visit Santa at the Citadel or Northwoods Mall, then go see his cousin Scuba Claus at the S.C. Aquarium.

Get your theater fix with Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, A Christmas Story, the Flowertown Players Old-Timey Radio Christmas Comedy Show Extravaganza, A Charleston Christmas Special, Madeline's Christmas, or Hans Brinker and the Quick Silver Rocket Skates. There's also A Christmas Carol and Once Upon a Mattress.

Check out new paintings by Nathan Durfee and Megan Aline in Humming Velvet during First Fridays on Broad.

Protect Whoville's Christmas at the Swamp Airsoft field during the "Greedy Grinch" battle.

Shop locally at the Holiday Artist Market, the Mt. Pleasant Holiday Market and Craft Show, or Holiday Art in the Evening.

Find out what a Pulse Dome is at the Halsey — the exhibit of Don Zanfagna's eco-houses closes this weekend with the Bio-Logical Architecture symposium.

Then close out the weekend with a Magnolia Plantation Camellia Walk, Madame Magar's Trunk Show, or the Lowcountry Women Authors Book Signing.
