Seersucker, Y'all

Y’all ready to rumble? We think that’s what they say before the biggest boxing match of the century. Have no fear — there are places in Charleston to watch Mayweather v. Pacquiao (just not that many). According to Sports Illustrated’s website, Mexico will be airing the match for free, so if you leave now you may be able to catch it. If you prefer races to matches, then you probably already know that this Saturday is also the Kentucky Derby. Giddy up. If your drinking pants haven’t gotten too tight by Tuesday, buckle up for the wild ride that is Cinco de Mayo. Stay tuned for that roundup.

Friday

Get your free viewing on at this week’s Movies in Marion Square with the kid and adult-friendly Big Hero 6.

The Pulitzer Prize can’t get enough of Charleston — check out the award-winning play Cocktails, Chocolate and Charcuterie>a?: a Night of Local Artisans.

Rock on at Party at the Point featuring Atlas Road Crew with The Tarlatans.

Check out a timely and important art show with the first ever Black Like Me show and community gathering.

Friday marks Spring’s first Friday on Broad — come for the art, stay for the wine.

Saturday

Before you start sucking down mint juleps, get your fill of crawfish — straight from Louisiana — at Fiery Ron’s West Ashley.

Get all of the tastes at the Taste of James Island while listening to local music and lettin’ the kiddos play.

If Derby Day is all about fashion for you, head to The Alley for a party that encourages you to “Dress to Impress.”

For a race with a view head to The Rooftop for their Seersucker Saturday party.

If you really want to derby like you got box seats to the event, head to Charleston Junior League hosted Night at the Races.

Warehouse is serving up frozen mint juleps and giving away a bottle of Maker’s Mark 46 for its best-dressed Derby attendees.

The Alley’s got your Mayweather v. Pacquio needs covered with an exclusive viewing party featuring $5 Vegas Bombs.

They’ve got more than wings y’all (but you already knew that.) Hooters North Chuck is showing the fight for $30, which includes free fried pickles, oh yeah.

B-dubs is also serving up more than wings with their showing of the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight, for the low, low price of a $10 cover.

Sunday

It may be a week away from Mother’s Day, but celebrate the moms early with Charleston’s second annual show of Listen To Your Mother.

The three B’s come to Patriot’s Point this weekend with the Bands, Burgers, and Brews Burger Throwdown.

Dogs love Cinco de Mayo as much as we do, so why not grab your pooch, throw a costume on him, and head to Taco Boy downtown for the Mexican Mutt Strut & Talent Show.

They may have jumped the gun on the season, but we’re not complaining about the BYOB and food at Slow Food Charleston’s Summer Potluck.
