The North Charleston Performing Arts Center announced yet another big show today: the great Willie Nelson and Family are set to perform in the theater on Fri. Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. Tickets for the concert will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Fri. Sept. 4.

The prolific country/Americana singer/guitarist is currently on the road behind a new album titled American Classic (Blue Note) — his first collection of classic pop standards since his 1978 album Stardust.

The "red-headed stranger" may be best known for his outlaw-country style, but he recently released a string of unexpected fusions of country with reggae, rock, and pop, American Classic features a roster of notable guest jazz artists — including Christian McBride on bass, Joe Sample on piano, and Lewis Nash on drums, and vocalists Norah Jones and Diana Krall. Tracks include renditions of "Fly Me to the Moon, "Ain't Misbehavin'," "On the Street Where You Live," and "Since I Fell for You."

Tickets will be on sale for $49.50 and $39.50 (plus applicable fees) via the box office, Ticketmaster outlets, or by phone at (800) 745-3000. Visit coliseumpac.com and willienelson.com for more.
