Local photographer Abigail Miller always enjoys putting funky looks together. One day, a friend noticed one of her self-portraits where she was dressed like a rag doll. “She said it was the most creative, unique portrait she had seen in a while,” Miller says. It inspired her new photo project Wonderdolls. “Wonder is mystery and amazement. Doll is playful.” Miller says, explaining the origin of the name for her subjects. She put the words together to create a “new kind of creature.” She created unique looks for the girls she photographed, giving each one some of her own personal style. She also likes to leave a bit of mystery. “Alternative beauty is exciting to me,” she says. “I like the edginess of gothic makeup in contrast with a flowing peasant dress.” Miller and her models, dressed up in their full Wonderdoll costumes, will attend the opening reception. The show will feature 50 of Miller’s photos as well as her unique chandelier frames, a DJ, and a special Bacardi rum tasting. —Christina Janke
