#Yesterday in Microfashion

When: Dec. 15-May 12 2019

With over 50 garments from every milestone of a child’s life including christening gowns, mourning wear, fancy dress and skeleton suits, this exhibition will turn the idea of “tradition” in terms of children’s clothing, upside down as it explores dresses worn by boys, the boots worn by girls and the colors worn by both. “Much of what we consider proper and traditional in regards to children’s clothing actually comes from advertisements. Even the term ‘toddler’ as a category of childhood is entirely an invention of retailers,” notes Teresa Teixeira, Curator of Historic Textiles.

Price: $12/adult, $10/youth ticket, $5/child
