To the uptight elitist IOP resident who was returning to Charleston with her Mount P mother on my flight from the Dallas airport:
I just wanted to say thank you for reminding me of why people like you irritate the shit out of me. I thought I should tell you the reason why my purse needed a seat next to me in the waiting area of the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. I had gotten up to help the 85 year old woman next to me make sure that she would get a wheelchair ride onto the plane. I left my purse in my seat so people would be aware that a person was sitting there and not swoop in and claim it. After having done my good deed for the day and helping another individual, I turned around to find you in my seat. This wouldn't have been a problem except the woman that I was helping had put some stuff in the seat where my purse was. While I was waiting for her to pick up her items, you started your passive aggressive tirade about not understanding why my purse needed a seat. Grabbing your purse and your mother in a huff, you repeatedly griped and moaned about my purse requiring its own seating area while you stormed around looking for seating. Instead of just referencing etiquette rules and politely asking me if I would move over, you acted like a petulant child throwing a tantrum. I would have explained why I was waiting to sit down. I admit that after 5 hours in airports, I was in no mood for a "bless your heart" moment when I hadn't even gotten back into town. You continued the behavior across the room where you managed to find two other seats together. Your mom must be so proud (or heavily medicated). Apparently, no amount of designer labels can overcome bad manners. Oh, and after a wonderful week of vacationing in a town where people were polite and upfront with their requests, thank you for bringing me back to Charleston reality in Dallas of all places. If you have purchased a classy attitude to go with those classy clothes, maybe you wouldn't have had to spend the entire flight giving me the stink eye.
