I've always wondered why so many diesel drivers leave their clattering stink pots to idle unattended forever and ever. You may need to run a refrigeration unit on your delivery truck but what about your gynormous 4WD pickup with monster tires that looks like it's never been off the pavement? Out of curiosity I Googled diesel idling and found that there is no rational explanation your behavior. Seventy years ago diesels were hard to start, especially in the winter, but this ain't Alaska and diesel engines and fuel are much improved. Idling a diesel causes twice as much engine wear as driving highway speeds. Do my nose, my ears, the environment and yourself a favor and turn that ignition key all the way to the left, good buddy.
