Urban Outfitters picks up Marysia's swim line

Debut set for spring 2010, Anthropologie deal in the works

Local swimwear designer Maria Dobrzanska Reeves (aka Marysia is on the up and up. After winning the Charleston Fashion Week 2009 Emerging Designer Competition, Marysia hasn't slowed down a bit. Selections from her swim line have been picked up by Urban Outfitters, and Anthropology might be on the way, too.

Following CFW, Marysia headed to Miami for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim where her pieces were eyed by numerous other companies like Victoria's Secret, Sports Illustrated (for their swimsuit issue), and Teen Vogue.

PR representative Jackie Tyler reports that while the Mercedes Fashion Week was tough, it was worth it. "It was a huge undertaking, but it's paid off," Tyler says. "It's really just been overwhelming."

In preparation of her spring 2010 Urban Outfitters debut, Marysia has temporarily moved out to Los Angeles to oversee the production of her swimwear. Despite the increase in production, she's committed to keeping her product in the U.S. and the quality sound. She uses a high-end fabric made in Italy that is environmentally friendly.
