With its small cluster of designers’ studios, the space above the Silver Dollar has been a stopping point for shoppers in the know for a few months now. Things are about to get a lot more official with the opening of ONE, an artist’s collaborative retail space organized by designer Rachel Gordon. ONE kicks off with a grand opening celebration on Thurs. April 22 from 5-8 p.m.

The space will feature Gordon’s One Love collection as well as a rotating selection of local artisans reflective of monthly themes. In deference to the Earth Day opening, the first month’s theme is “Charleston Tree Huggers.” Participating artists include Candace Romeo (handbags), John Duckworth (photography), Julie Wheat (designer, vintage), Sarah Maxwell (designer), Diana Lauderdale (photographer), and Add Libb Designs (handbags). Ten percent of all sales will benefit the Angel Oak Park.

Upcoming themes include “child’s play,” “emerging gems,” and “garden party.”

The opening is in partnership with Ashley Brook Perryman’s new studio. Perryman is a makeup and hair artist who served as lead hair and makeup for Charleston Fashion Week.
