Javalina joins Charleston's fashion community

Charleston’s fashion scene is about to get a dose of vintage Western-style flair. SCAD grad Mary Labberton will unveil Javalina, her debut collection, on Friday at Love Me Again Clothing Exchange.

After interning with Julie Wheat of Cavortress, Labberton is branching out with her own “Pin-ups and Indians Collection,” which mixes 1930s silhouettes with punk rock elements. You’ll find lightweight cotton sundresses accented with vintage buttons, antique lace tank tops, motorcycle jean jackets, high-waisted shorts, and a mini skirt in a wood-grain print.

Labberton’s childhood in Yakima, Washington is an obvious influence on her Western-inspired designs. The name Javalina is inspired by the javelina, a wild boar.
